The following has been written by Maddie Zeller.
My name is Maddie Zeller and I currently serve as the Office Assistant here at the Greeley Area Chamber of Commerce. In addition, I had the opportunity to complete an internship here at the Chamber in the Summer of 2023. Greeley has been my home for 19 years. It has been such an exciting opportunity to see real, positive change being made by the people of our community.
“I consider myself lucky to have played a small part in our ever-growing city through opportunities presented to me here at the Chamber.”
The last couple years have been spent finding my “why”. For me, this has looked like volunteering for organizations including the Greeley-Evans School District 6 Success Foundation Junior Board, as well as the City of Greeley Youth Commission. Both organizations champion the serving of one’s community through the development of relationships with one another. Through involvement with both organizations, I have grown an appreciation for connecting with others, and I see this in the Chamber as well.
The Chamber encourages this connection through networking, friendships, and support for business.
“This mission of creating both personal and professional connections for local business owners has been an incredible thing to watch and be a part of in some ways.”
One of my favorite memories from my internship experience was having the opportunity to speak at a Community Council of Education forum about the importance of hosting interns and what skills young people can develop in a professional setting. The attentiveness of those that listened to me speak was so inspiring and jumpstarted my career exploration.
The team at the Greeley Area Chamber of Commerce is very interconnected, something that I have admired since being their intern, now Office Assistant. I am certain that in any career I pursue, I hope to be just as great of a leader as those here at the Greeley Area Chamber of Commerce.
This fall, I will be heading off to the University of Kansas to pursue a double major in Business Administration and Political Science. With the hope of turning my passion for collaborating with others into a profession, I plan to pursue a career that will allow for creative and concerted approaches like those that I have seen amongst our community.
I believe in serving the community that serves you. One of my favorite parts of living in Greeley is the willingness of neighbors to work together for the growth and improvement of our city. I got to be a part of this mission through my internship opportunity, in which I made so many connections, developed organizational and leadership skills, and found a new sense of professionalism. I am so grateful for the internship and employment opportunities that the Greeley Area Chamber of Commerce has provided and will carry these developed skills with me for a lifetime!
