1. What is Visit Greeley?

Visit Greeley is an organization supported by a local transient room tax, government budget allocations, product sales and advertising partnerships.

The bureau in each city, county or region has three prime responsibilities: (1) to encourage groups to hold meetings, conventions and tradeshows in the city or area it represents; (2) to assist those groups with meeting preparations and while their meeting is in progress, and (3) to encourage tourists to visit and enjoy the historic cultural and recreational opportunities the destination offers.

Visit Greeley helps meeting planners and visitors learn about Greeley and Weld County as a destination and area attractions.

2. What is the difference between a Chamber of Commerce and Visit Greeley?

There are many distinct differences between what a Chamber mission entails and what Visit Greeley's mission entails. We do work hand-in-hand and complement each other very well. In Greeley, Visit Greeley works to enhance the near-term economic viability of our community - and works as the destination marketing organization. Many times people struggle with the differences and think we might be duplicating services. That is just not the case. Our Chamber plays an active role in long-term economic development for the community, addressing political issues and enhancing the over all business climate to make our community a great place to do business. Additionally Visit Greeley provides useful publications for the Chamber and other entities to use.

3. What is the value of tourism to a city?

Tourism contributes to the economic stability of a community. In challenging budget times, one of the few industries that tends to be more stable - one that continues to sustain a city - is the tourism and convention market. CVB's are investing in our future, especially the convention side of our work. We're attracting conferences that will come in this year and for many years to come.
